You'll never know what will happen when this unique artist collective comes together turning every event into a spontaneous happening. Their willingness to break musical barriers combined with the openness to mix turntablism, electronic elements, ethnic percussion and whatever melodic instrument they can get a hold on creates instant magic. Add beautiful dancers and you know you'd better mark their dates in your calendar. Since their sudden and unexpected appearance at the black cat ball 2006 the Lords of the Soulhouse rock the party - guaranteed.
Earth Steppa
Joey Catalano, aka Pom, aka Earth Steppa, aka Alpha Naughty Dirt 30, has been addicted to making Beats since age 7. It started off with banging on his brother's drum set until he was able to convince his parents to get him one of his own. From that point on Joey slowly began to play more instruments and found that he had a talent for rhythm. From that Earth Steppa was born." I love dub step... Tribal roots is what I think of when I produce and spin this music... Playing kit drum dub step is a very powerful experience for me and I do not take it lightly. I'm a student of dread bass & beats and I go to school every day.”
A new location, an ancient land; welcome back to Hyperborea.

Hyperborea, dream-shrouded land of mystical energies behind the north wind emerges again from occultation. We have been there once before, wide-eyed and wondering explorers. Seasoned dreamers of dreams, we now are ready to push out of the splendid city and recontact the long-wandering 11th tribe who play under spinning stars.

UPDATE: The location has been confirmed as a go and has been reconnoitered by high-speed, low-drag Audio Response Team tactical operators. It is approximately 2 1/2 to 3 hours generally north of Los Angeles, directions will be posted via email and on the web on the seventh.

On the evening of June 7, 2008, we will reopen the portal to Hyperborea and travel deeper into its realms. The music will start at 9:00 p.m. and go until 10:00 a.m. If you want updates, directions, etc., contact us via the web site.
and possibly other surprise appearances...

Due to the generosity of the Alien Underground, we will be able to offer you tasty warm beverages all night long. To defray all the other expenses involved in putting on this event, we are asking for a suggested donation of $10 as you arrive.

Hyperborea is a place of beauty and wonder, suffice it to say for now that countless stars fill the sky overhead in their terrible beauty, rounded mountains huddle around and slumber in their wisdom, and there is a soft, cool breeze. Paths loop amidst the temple complex from the central focus to hidden stones and nearby peaks. Totems of ancient and unknown significance surround the focal point and are bathed in a weird, pulsating light that beckons caravans from beyond the Tanarian Hills.

Hyperborea will manifest itself outdoors overnight away from civilization as we know it. Bring warm clothes, plenty of water, blankets or a sleeping bag, and a happy smile. You may also want something to snack on. Generally speaking, be prepared and we'll all have a great time. There will be an area suitable for fire performances, email in advance for details. There will also be an established fire-pit, if you want a fire to stand next to, bring firewood. Further instructions will be posted or emailed with the directions.

I used to live in Ventura and am now in L.A. I'm looking for a ride with some groovy people who will be leaving on Thursday, 8/30 from Ventura then leaving from the playa on Sunday, 9/2, returning to Ventura by sometime Monday, 9/3. I'll make my own way to and from Ventura from the L.A. area, where I live. God, I miss Ventura! I also recently sold my $200 ticket because I changed my mind about going but guess what? I've changed it back again. You know how that goes. So I'm also looking for a ticket, pref. for $200.

If anyone has a ticket and/or needs a rider who is also a responsible, licensed driver who has driven an RV but can only squeeeze in a quickie weekend burn this year, I'm your gal! This will be my seventh burn, if I make it, so I'm a pro at this but always open to learning/experiencing something new.
I’m letting all of the tribes know about a regional event coming up soon – Rebirth. Burning Man, but rather than radical desert survival – radical tropical rain forest survival. Details of the event can be found here:

THE SINGULARITY ARTS FESTIVAL
MAY 11-14TH,Thursday thru Sunday, 2006

Salutations from the SINGULARITY ARTS FESTIVAL Event Team!

Here is the second official announcement!
Included are some details you need to know in order to participate to
your fullest potential!

In this blast, we'll go over the who, what, where, why and how.

Who?
Las Vegas and Los Angeles Regional Burning Man communities are coming
together to create a larger event that together we can take higher
and build stronger. We are very excited about this opportunity and
venture.

What?
The concept is simple. We will provide a well-supported empty space
for you to come, express, experience and create. This event exists
SOLEY ON YOUR PARTICIPATION. That means - WE ALL NEED EACH OTHER, AS
WELL AS ALL OF OUR ART!

Where?
Roach Lake, Nevada.
(Southwest of Las Vegas, about a three hour drive from L.A., just
across the California/Nevada state line )
Buy your tickets now! http://singularity.inticketing.com

Why?
It is time for local Burning Man regions to reach out to one
another. It is time to work together beyond our disparate regions
and unite, expand, and gain strength. We want to stretch beyond our
borders and integrate ourselves in the name of Art, Creation, and
Community. This event is NOT about Las Vegas or Los Angeles. It is
about community. It is about YOU! We look forward to seeing people
from all regions taking part in Singularity. Tickets have already
been purchased by participants in 8 states!

We are reaching out, and inviting diverse communities, not only
burning communities, to join us. Expect large-scale pyro
installations. In addition to the many styles of music that can be
found at Burning Man, the Las Vegas Jam Band Society will create a
theme camp to host live bands. Each community will add to the overall
experience of this event. The significance lies NOT the similarities,
but rather in the diversities.

How?
It starts by purchasing a presale ticket now. There are only a finite
number of tickets available. This event will be limited to 1,000
attendees, maximum. This is part of our permit, and is a fixed number
in accordance with an agreement with the BLM. When the tickets are
gone, the event will be sold out. All participants, planners,
performers, are buying a ticket. Every single one of us is paying,
every single one of us is participating.

Here are 7 critical areas you can participate in at Singularity:

1- A CALL FOR ART
2- REGISTER YOUR THEME CAMP
3- A CALL FOR MUSICIANS AND PERFORMERS
4- VOLUNTEERS
5- FIRE SPINNING AND LARGE SCALE PYRO
6- LEAVE NO TRACE

1- A CALL FOR ART:
CONTACT: art@thesingularityevent.com
Do you remember the first time you saw a work of art that moved you
in a powerful way? When you stood there in awe, and experienced it,
remember how you felt your emotions wash over you? It felt good to be
alive. Well, YOU are that artist now! So do the work, and BRING YOUR
ART OUT TO THIS EVENT! People are coming from all over the country
to be touched and moved by your creation. Sculptures, paintings, and
fourth dimensional constructs, anything that is your art. It is
worthy. It is special. It is worth bringing out. You never know who
your art will touch and inspire.

2- REGISTER YOUR THEME CAMP:
CONTACT: http://thesingularityevent.com/themecamps
communities. Wake up to the laughter of your friends. Get more
quality time in with 20 of your friends this weekend than you will in

3. A CALL FOR MUSICIANS AND PERFORMERS:
CONTACT: performance@thesingularityevent.com
Are you a fire spinner, hooper, performance troupe, drummer, band,
dj, hawaiian nose hummer, Gregorian chanter? Do you play the Butt

There are several ways to perform at the event. The first way is to
host your own theme camp. Or, you can contact us, and we'll connect
you with theme camps that are hosting performance areas, where you
can perform as their guest. There will be a small performance area at
center camp for eclectic performers, spoken word, and fire troupes
that perform to a cd.

Theme camps with music should have works of art, decoration, and
places to hang out. Do not just bring a stack of speakers and call
yourself a theme camp. If you are doing a performance area, we want
you to bring lights, decoration, and seating. Create your area.

* A few rules on sound: theme camps with music will be asked to give
3 one hour time slots each day to guest performers. This should
increase the number of people dancing in your area. Plus, it's fun
to meet new people (and maybe meet your next and finest new Lover!),
and creates a generous environment for performers traveling from far
away.
* A note on volume. If its after 3 am at night, go to half volume.
* Be respectful of your neighbors.

4. VOLUNTEERS:
CONTACT: http://www.thesingularityevent.com or email directly the
department you want to help.
Information available on the website.
There's a lot of juice in volunteering. Each area needs helpers.
Contact us now so we can get you in the loop.

5-FIRE SPINNING AND LARGE SCALE PYRO:
CONTACT: fire@thesingularityevent.com
We are encouraging all large-scale fire sculptures and fire
performers to attend. Please contact us so we can explain how fire
safety, equipment checks, and registration will work. You must
contact us before the event if you want to bring fire gear of any kind.

6-LEAVE NO TRACE:
CONTACT: your own trash bag !!
Only with your help and dedication can we use this land again. By
policing your own trash, and that of your camp mates, we will all be
able to enjoy this event next year. This IS a LEAVE NO TRACE event!

Here is some info from the Burning Man website regarding Leave No
Trace principles:
The Los Angeles Theatre
This baroque-style Louis XIV masterpiece built in 1931 premiered Charlie Chaplin's City Lights. It's stood empty since the 90's, a mausoleum of the glory days waiting to be re-birthed. On New Year's eve we'll fill these golden halls with color and pizzazz befitting its dazzling perfection.

Anon Salon
Known for their over the top multi-media events, over the course of its 15-year existence, ANON SALON has helped redefine West Coast event production by producing hundreds of unique theme parties, theater festivals, art shows and even street fairs for Burning Man fans in both San Francisco and Los Angeles. Since its debut on NYE 2000 in San Francisco, their annual New Years bacchanalia event has been known as the must-see sleeper event for the in-the-know “cultural creatives”, attracting over 2,000 attendees each year to the sold out San Francisco events and last year’s first LA event.

I'm also wondering what reactions people had to one drunk guy yelling out in protest to Bob's remarks during his promotional short film of his Hope Dance organization. I'll admit the drunk guy was my guest. While I found myself embarrassed that my drunk friend was harassing the grass roots organizer of the donation-requested free event, I admit that I also laughed because my buddy was right: Bob didn't seem to have a goal for his Hope Dance organization.

Hey, my pals and I just booked rooms on the Xingolati cruise, which looks to be something Burners would be interested in. It's a 3 night cruise to Ensenada on a Carnival cruiseline ship, with Flaming Lips andf Mutaytor and a bunch of DJs and other acts. When Dora! and I went on a regular cruise to Mexico a few years back, we loved it so much, but the mainstream clientele and the pretty awful entertainment and music were bringing us down. So we have jumped at this chance to take this cruise. We were onboard and fantasizing about Burning Man on the water, so now I want to spread the word to burners! Go to Xingolati.com and read the details of this cruise and book a room. I know of a way to get an oceanview quad stateroom for only $499 per person (regularly 809), +115 taxes and stuff, but you need to book this room by 7-31 and there is a limited amount of these rooms. Contact me for the discount code, if interested. Also, check out the website for details on possibly cruising for free.

If you've been to Lightning in a Bottle, Lucent L'amour, or the dome at
Coachella, then you know how much love and energy we pour into our events.
With Lucent Delirium we're going to take it to the next level. The Do LaB
has been working around the clock to ensure that Oct 1st
will be spectacular, certainly our greatest event yet, and we are excited
to share it with all of you.

What's in store for Lucent Delirium?

First off, we've teamed up with Lorin (Bassnectar) to help him release his
newest album "Mesmerizing the Ultra". He'll be playing a 2 hour set on a 4
corner turbo sound system shaking the bricks loose in the building. The
albums great, go check it out...

We're also bringing in world renowned dj Cheb i Sabbah as our special guest
to help us celebrate with his unique sounds of world music and bhangra beats.

And to spice things up a bit, we're having the dusty duo that rocked the
flower art car at Burning Man with their sexy acid jazz, Helios Jive! They
score the incredible music for Lucent Dossier and they bring us to our feet
every time!!!! If you've seen them before, then you've most likely danced
your booty off. It's fun, its fresh, its sexy, its the jive!

Also sharing their beats with us are the underground favorites David
Starfire, Patricio, Porter Tinsley, Jupiter, Dandelion, and Sammy Bliss.
Each of these dj's have been making waves in their respective communities
and we're bringing them all together for one night of madness.

The fun certainly doesn’t stop there though... We've got crazy entertainment
popping out of every corner starting with the Lucent Dossier Vaudeville
Cirque. They've been dancing up a storm and there's a new wacky show in
store for you.

Plus from San Diego, a sensual fire belly dance performance by the beautiful
ladies of Atash Maya and a cute and sassy show by DangerSassyPants.
You can also catch pieces of "Fancy", a one man clown
show by none other than Vladimir Levitansky, or gaze at an enormous junk
wall while master painters Shrine, Carlos, Jesse, and Shannon paint the hell
out of it in front of your eyes. Stop by the Stardust Salon and have
extensions put into your hair or visit Buddha Monkey's Bag of Accessories
and add a little something to bring your outfit to life. We'll also have
body painting and henna tattoos, and if you're feeling crafty you can mold
clay in a workshop with Christian the Blacksmith. Or just roam the gallery
to check out the art on the walls and sit back and relax in the
headphone lounge. Hungry? Grab an organic vegan snack
from PlayFood and re-energize, cause the music's still banging and there's lots
of fun to be had!!

There's so much more madness to tell you about, but you'll have to come and see
it for yourself. We're super excited about it and we hope you are too!!

Much love,

I need to tow a pop-up trailer up to the playa (at 55 mph) and I need to be up there early, so I am having a little trouble finding a person to share the ride with me. I am leaving Ventura early Friday the 26th and stopping half way (Mammoth?) to camp, hoping to arrive on the playa Saturday before sundown. With a driving partner, perhaps we can drive straight thru? My return will be on Monday, with a night at the lovely Peppermill resort and casino in Reno for some pool action, many showers and a hearty, fresh buffet meal. Perhaps a two day drive back to Ventura, but I think the last time I towed a trailer to Bman I drove the Reno/Ventura leg all one shot.

I am looking for someone who wouldn't mind the slow pace and the extended dates. Your company, your driving, a donation to the gasoline expenses would all be appreciated. I have space in my truck for a moderate amount of your stuff. My truck tows this trailer quite easily, and you can see out the back window thru the rear view mirror. If you don't have too much stuff, we might be able to create a little nest for sleeping in the back seat of my king cab while the other drives, which is nice.

I like to stop in Carson City to pick up groceries and water and ice and bypass Reno altogether on the way there. Upon your early arrival to the playa, you can camp with my crew until your crew arrives. (You can pitch in and help us set up our ambitious camp, if you please) My crew will have been there for a few days and will hopefully have the shower and camp kitchen set up for your convenience.

So if you have the time to kill, and would like to see BRC develop at an earlyish stage, get back to me. Love Maxwell

Location: Bold Sky
3943 N Mississippi
Portland, OR 97227
More Info: 503-287-0154
Nice weather? we'll be out back :)

That's right Kids, it's that time again! Representatives of the BRCPO have approached me with a mission of extreme artistic importance! The mission should I chose to accept it, is to send all the fabulous Burners art on the Playa! In pursuit of fulfilling my mission we are having another art party. If you would like to receive art on the playa please PM me with the camp you will be with, your name, and location (if you know) and we will try to make sure you get your art.

If you are coming to the art party, some things we have found that are useful are any postcard sized art or happiness. STAMPS. If you have a list of people to send to, please bring appropiate stamps. Stickers, any and all shapes and sizes we are not picky.

We will be holding it this time at Bold Sky at 3943 N. Mississippi Ave. Portland, OR 97227 503-287-0154. If you have any questions jest ask, otherwise please come and help me fulfill my mission!

Jinberry

PS - you can also make art/mail for on-playa devilry/delivery

PPS - How to receive mail on the playa

Send mail at the appropriate time to:

Your Friend or Enemy
Their Camp Name
Camp Address
c/o BRCPO
Burning Man
Gerlach, NV 89412

From our Postmistress, Sylvia via the BRCPO list:

That's the Zip code for Gerlach. But to get a delivery onto the playa
and to the BRCPO, it has to be addressed "c/o BRCPO" and have a very
detailed description of the person it is intended for and suspected camp
location. (You can always do a "double-wrap" with the VERY detailed
specifics from being read by USPS officials on the inside-- as long as
it is addressed "c/o BRCPO" on the outer package, the volunteers at the
BRCPO are authorized to open the outer wrap and attempt a delivery.)

- Suggestion: Send mail to everyone you know on the playa - I'd recommend mailing it within the US on 8/26 or 8/27

- We are still looking for quality employees/volunteers - get in touch if you're looking for a good time/able to work overtime/bringing more than one case of beer to the playa/are wearing red today.

Hello current Central Coast residents. Some here know of the Junkmail Man, but many do not know it'll be happening over the weekend of July 16th at Pismo Beach.

Each year, people gather together and camp on the beach, bringing along their saved junk mail. This junk mail gets loaded in to a giant effigy, which we then light on fire. In previous years we've made a 3-story tall sculpture, but this year (our fifth at Oceano Dunes), we're making a burning hill figure, similar to the hill figures that exist in the highlands of Peru, and along hillsides across the U.K.

Junkmail Man is pretty much like any other burner-style camping trip, except it takes place on a State Beach, and everyone will be working together to create a flammable 250-foot long Lite Brite figure.

A person's junk mail is their ticket to the Junkmail Man, the only fees charged for attending are paid to the park for the $10 a day beach camping permits. About 200 campers attened last year's Junk Mail Burn, and there'll be 300 or so in our base camp this time around. The hillfigure will be the most ambitious art project attempted so far, for us and possibly in the entire history of the beach, and much junk mail will be needed for its success.

It's all happening over the weekend of July 16th. If you're interested in attending this minature regional event happening right in your own backyard, please sign up for the Junkmail Man announce-only list by sending an email to junkmailmansucksdontgo(at)junkmailman.org

If you have any questions, please feel free to post them here. Afterall, this is a discussion forum.

in the hottest regions of china the entire population eats mung bean soup to lower body temperature during the summer months.
i prefer cold to hot and have used mung beans to stay comfortable during the heat of the day in desert climates.
you can sprout,soak,or cook.
try it,you'll like it if heat gets to you.

It was a cold and windy evening, but the turnout was good and the DJ's from LA played great sets of sweet jazzy house. This month, Alive After Five falls on Cinco de Mayo, so Wild Planet is presenting an evening of Latin House music this Thursday with DJ JP Garcia from 5-7pm(www.wholegrainmusic.com) and Embejada Le Funk from 7-9pm(www.lefunkstudio.com). It will happen in this little grassy park on the 300 block of Main St, in downtown Ventura. Bring blankets to lounge on. There is a dive bar across the street so you can get your drink on. I hope to have these events monthly thru the summer, at least. I hope to see you there. Love, Dora!

so lets do this.

OBVIOUSLY we would not want to discuss any severely pertinent details out here in public. so write me a note and if there is enough interest and some semblance of concensus i will send out info to those i know.

then i will have to trust that they will use their wisdom to tell the people that they KNOW. and it could be good.

NOT trying to be difficult. just use a little common sense here peeps.

or people could be stoopid and we can just keep on keepin on just biiitchin and moaning about how there's nowhere for us all to meet up and spin.

So, many of you may be familiar with me from parties, fire performances, various sexual astrology posts, or pleas for rides between LA and San Francisco. It's possible that I've talked to (or at!) you about Dream Co(llective) and how I want to establish a travelling higher conscious show with organic food, conscious music, psychedelic art, clothing and cool shit made from recycled materials, along with information on alternative ways to live outside the box, eat healthy, heal yourself naturally, etc. All broadcast by pirate radio/internet radio of course, and transported by bio-diesel buses.
Now, I want to leave every party I throw open to donations, let people pay what they can afford so everyone who wants to, gets to come. If you know me, you know I do my work with astrological guidance and Goddess oracle advice on the same principle, helping people comes first and everything else is secondary. So here's what I'm trying to do...below is a list of some of the skills I have. It's not all of them, just the ones I can think of right now. I've lead a diverse, crazy and highly nomadic lifestyle with one of the strangest array of work skills of anyone I know, so if you need something done, chances are I can do it. I'm offering my skills in exchange for any help at all with making this dream a reality:

-Freelance writer, researcher, fact checker and editor for 10 years professionally
-Astrologer -specializing in the astrology of human sexuality and relationships
-Tarot card reader -The Goddess Guidance Oracle cards, which are source of feminine wisdom and guidance.
-PR work
-Hand drummer
-Fire poi spinner
-Erotic poet and custom writer of erotic fiction
-Photographer
-Event promoter
-Talent agent - specializing in fire artists, drummers, jugglers, circus talent, etc.
-PA (both production assistant and personal assistant)
-Gourmet chef:including vegetarian and raw
-Film editor (AVID system)
-House/pet sitter
-Dog walker
-Horse groomer
-Pirate radio station DJ/owner
-Club DJ
- Medical marijuana work
-Secretary (type 65 words per minute average speed)
-Transcriber
-Carpenters assistant, drywall assistant, painter, gardener, various other manual labor jobs
-Au pair
-Tutor for ESL students and children

I'll be travelling northward soon, hoping to throw the first Dream CO(llective) show on Hornby Island in BC on 4/20. Keep checking the Dream CO(llective) tribe for updates.

Our first show will be no later than June 21st, on the day of 24 hour daylight in either Alaska or the Yukon, currently working out locations for both to see which is most feasible. So money, materials, laptops, transport, equipment (preferably attached to people who want to come and check it out) etc are all good. I'm aware that this is a long shot, but I want all those little places that have no clue what Burning man is all about to have their eyes opened, too. We coastal communities are lucky because we have information sources to enlighten us and open our eyes. I'd like the rest of North America to get that same chance.

Don't know if any of y'all read the BORG2 Bull Horn but just to give the heads up, those crazy miscreants, your slightly awkward siblings, over in the BORG2 project are making a special art grant of all the pennies they collected at the Flying Pig Sex Disaster back on Feb 5. These pennies are art just sitting there in a bucket. They are SPECIAL ART PENNIES blessed and purified with sexy blazing pig passion. They can be yours as an art material or if you choose cashed in to make art entirely unrelated to pennies. Personaly I hope some folks use the pennies as part of their art creation.

Here is a reiteration of the Frank Jones Bull Horn announcement regarding the penny art grant. Thanks to all who helped with the Pig disaster and rolling all them coins after the event.
Go Team Disaster, leading by example since Feb. 5 2005.

> NEVER MIND THE BOLLOCKS, HERE'S THE PILE 'O
> PENNIES ART GRANT DISASTER
>
> --------------------------------------------------------------------
>
> The BORG2 Ad Hoc Action Collective, aka the
> people not voted into any kind of office, have
> been counting up all the change collected from
> the recent FLYING PIG SEX DISASTER fundraiser
> and rolling it into, well, rolls. And then
> depositing the rolls with the bank people. And
> now they're tired of all this rolling.
>
> The delightful Marc came up with this idea
> (paraphrased for your convenience):
>
> 1. Gosh darn we still have to roll a ton of
> pennies
> 2. How can I convince someone else to do this?
> 3. Maybe the AC could GRANT this butt load of
> pennies to an artist so we won't have to roll
> them anymore and an artist could be supported to
> make their art, which is why we are here rolling
> all this god-forsaken change in the first place.
>
>
> Thus was born: the NEVER MIND THE BOLLOCKS,
> HERE'S THE PILE 'O PENNIES ART GRANT DISASTER.
>
> Here is the deal: BORG2 has a bunch of pennies
> and other misshapen but still legal US tender
> coins in its possession. Rather than spend about
> ten manhours each for every ten dollars of coins
> left, BORG2 is going to grant THIS HUGE PILE OF
> COINS TO ONE LUCKY ARTIST. An real art grant,
> immediate resource gratification, just like
> we've been talking about for the last six
> million years.
>
> The rules and conditions:
>
> - The dollar amount of the remaining pennies
> (and other coins) is somewhere around ONE
> THOUSAND DOLLARS.
>
> - All those interested in receiving this grant
> have one week from today forward to submit a
> project proposal. Proposals will be posted
> publicly to the BORG2.org website in the order
> received.
>
> - All submitted proposals will be subject to a
> vote by the entire BORG2 community, using the
> Demagogue voting software that was created by
> the mysterious Dr. Fiasco and used in the
> January elections, and is now new and improved,
> to the point where it can handle "millions of
> voters."
>
> - The project deemed "most interesting" by the
> entire community, as determined through this
> vote, will receive all the remaining coins at a
> special ceremony, details of which to be
> announced.
>
> Format of proposals:
>
> The format used to submit a proposal is very
> important. Non-compliance with format will mark
> submitter as a non-linear thinker. Please comply
> with all following blank spaces:
>
> Your Name:
> Project Title:
> One line project description:
> Compose a DF1LM (dfilm.com/index_movie_start.
> html) explaining your project and submit link to
> it:
> Submit a URL to an online drawing (optional):
>
> Note that the primary vehicle for this
> application is DF1LM. Those who have been
> following the BORG2 tribe and various other
> tribes in the Outer BORGverse will know that
> DF1LM has, um, kinda become the communication
> medium of choice for BORG2 endeavors. In fact,
> the Art Council has been deep in debate as to
> whether all official AC communications should
> proceed through DF1LM, although there has been
> no decision yet. In the meantime, however, Jim
> composed a stunt grant application that found
> issue in several panties, and many DF1LMs flew
> here and there shortly thereafter, as well as
> before, through the rigors of time travel (news
> travels BEYOND FAST in the BORGverse). The
> record (or wreckage) can be found on the BORG2
> tribe (borg2.tribe.net), and also on the DF1LM
> tribe (dfilm.tribe.net).
>
> EMAIL IS DEAD. THE FUTURE BELONGS TO DF1LM. (Can
> we get a sponsorship?)
>
> Remember, the deadline for proposals is
> Wednesday, March 2. Voting will take place
> Friday, March 4.

"Its always a loaded compliment to yoke an artist to a critical darling, but its simply impossible to listen to n.Lannon without hearing the ghostly footfalls of Elliott Smith. Lannon shares with Smith a penchant for submerged melody in washed out chords, but he super-cedes Smith in his smoothly executed risks, unafraid to cut the pop reins and let a song drop into an ambient free-for-all. Supplementing his audibly plucked guitar notes with slowly articulated bones, Lannon's songs thread in keyboards with a quiet, atmospheric depth that emerges from a backdrop so recessed and organically subtle that it may as well be the songs unconscious, like Sugar Ros doing a Nick Drake tribute records that far exceeds the one that just hit the stores this season."

It is a smaller room and it cost $450 per month and the deposit is also $450. It’s a cool 3 bedroom house, with a lot of yard space. We have a greenhouse, so feel free to use the yard and greenhouse to garden, compost whatever. We also have a garage that we can convert to an artspace, or whatever someone wants to do with it. I have a 15 year old dog that doesn’t do much except lay around. To tell you a little about myself I work at the hospital, and I am a massage therapist. I am hardly ever home, because I am busy with work, school, events, friends, boyfriend, and a new art project that I will be working on away from home. Our other roomate is a art student, and is either at school or in her room doing art throughout the middle of the day and into the night. Whoever is interested will need to be an openminded, sharing, caring, reliable person. That can put up with music, friends coming over, and the occasional party. Also someone who isnt demanding and bossy about things is best. Please call or email me at 805-259-8885 or indocalichica@hotmail.com

I am sure you have all heard about the La Conchita landslide. It has been a great tragedy to all of us that know people from there. They are still digging up people, which now are mostly dead. Some of you have met Charlie Womack (aka Papa Chonga and Charlie Llama). He has spun at many of the parties you have been too like Illuminatrix, Daves Mountain Parties, and Burning Man (part of Clan Destino). He was found last night, passed on to the other side. Charlie took care of many people, and helped out with everything as much as he could. He has always been the leader of our pack (La Conchita Llama tribe) and everyone is going to miss him. He has 4 children, one being a 15 year old girl. His house and belongings (including the belongings of everyone who lived with him too) are completely gone and distroyed. Since he was the provider for the people who lived with him, we need help paying for a funeral and memorial he deserves. So I set up a Memorial Fund to pay for all of this. There are a couple of other funds you will also see on the news too. In Charlies house there was also Jimmy's (aka Gador) wife, and three beautiful little little girls who have still not been found. We also have Kristina missing who is the mother of Chase our friend. I just found out our friend Dan's girlfriend Vanessa was found passed away. So since we have several funds set up this will all go to Charlie and anyone else in our close circle of friends that are found. You can call me if you need to (805) 259-8885, and my name is Jessica Lunsford

This is how you make a donation to "The Charlie Womack Memorial Fund"
-Go to Santa Barbara Bank in Trust (Call me for the bank near you) and tell them you want to make a deposit in the Charlie Womack Memorial Fund account #301010003673

Vault of Heaven , a new year , and now it's time to start planning another Fire Arts and Drumming Gathering.
Last year we gathered at Pismo Beach by the Dunes.
It was the first gathering and though we had 'some issues' it was a very kool time and we made new friends and learned new moves and had a kool weekend on a beautiful beach.
Pismo was chosen because of it's reletively central location and proximity to Northern and Southern California.
However the loud 'off roader' surroundings were not quite the vibe we were looking for.
I had hoped that song Dog ranch would have worked out their legal issues but it doesn't look like that will happen anytime soon.
So the only other option seems to be Red White and Blue Beach near Santa Cruz.
This is further north and closer for the SF and Bay area posse, but obviously a bit further drive for the LA and southern CA people.
I'm hoping to organize a charther bus that will make a few stops beginning in Orange County / Anaheim area, then thru Hollywood and the San Fernando Valley and possibly a Santa Barbara area pick up point.

That's to be worked out, but the main thing is to schedule a date that works for as many people as possible.
Mid April seemed to be getting warm enough for most of us last year.
So if a particular weekend in APRIL has something going on, please let us know so we can lock down a date that doesn't overlap another 'happening'.
This time we plan to include a sound system as well as the hand drumming.

The idea of the FireDrums gathering is to bring together as many fire artists and hand precussionists together to meet and share techniques and have an amazing spin jam weekend.
It isn't meant to be an 'event' and we 'will do everything possible' to keep it intimate and personal and inexpensive for everyone.
Please contact me or send your ideas and responses to the FireDrums Tribe
http://firedrums.tribe.net/
peace, love and light,
and may your fires burn forever bright
